An estimate, not advice. It assumes an even salary across the months shown, on FY 2026-27 salaried rates, with no other income, tax credits or reliefs. Your actual withholding also depends on what you have already been taxed this year and your employer’s policy on medical allowance and provident fund, all of which the full engine handles month by month, and this page cannot know. Figures are rounded to the rupee.

Estimate only: it assumes an even salary, no other income and no tax credits. Confirm with your payslip and your tax adviser.

The slabs behind the numbers

Tax on annual taxable income is the fixed amount for the slab plus the rate on the part above the slab’s starting point.

About this calculator

Which tax year does the calculator use?

By default the latest year it holds, FY 2026-27. Choose another year from the list to compare.

How does it get from my gross salary to taxable income?

With the medical exemption ticked, it assumes your gross is basic pay plus a 10% medical allowance, so basic pay is the gross divided by 1.1 and the medical allowance is not taxed. Tax is charged on your basic pay and any bonus or commission, over the months you are paid in the tax year.

How does a bonus or a mid-year start change the tax?

A recurring monthly bonus, commission or overtime is taxed in full every month. A one-off bonus is added once to the year. If you joined part-way through the tax year, the salary is spread over the months you are paid for, which usually puts less of it in the higher slabs and lowers the monthly tax; it steps up to the full rate the next July.

How are provident fund and EOBI treated?

They are deducted from your take-home pay, not from taxable income here. Provident fund is your own contribution at the rate you set, as a percentage of basic pay. EOBI is the employee’s fixed share. Employers differ, so set the rate your employer uses.

When do these slabs apply to me?

The salaried slabs apply where your salary is more than 75% of your taxable income. If you have substantial income from a business or other sources, a different table applies and this calculator will not match.

Is the medical allowance always exempt?

The law exempts a medical allowance of up to 10% of basic pay, but only if your employment terms do not already provide free treatment or reimbursement of medical costs. The calculator assumes the allowance qualifies. The law does not define basic pay, so the split of gross into basic and allowance is a payroll convention, not a rule.

Why might my payslip differ?

Your employer’s payroll may also account for tax already withheld earlier in the year, tax credits, a different salary structure or a different medical allowance policy. Treat this as an estimate and check your payslip and your tax adviser.

Is anything I type stored?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is sent to us.

Paying more than one person?

This page works out one salary. WageVerge runs the same rules month by month for every employee, with year-to-date tax, provident fund, loans and final settlement, and shows every input and change about to reach the payroll before you lock the month.
